Our team are not only trained and experienced in delivering professional safety, rescue and first aid courses to adults, we also have a lot of experience of delivering fun and exciting training to young people.
If you’re a youth group, school or leisure centre looking for instructors to deliver water safety training for children get in touch and we will be happy to see how we can help.
RLSS Rookie Lifeguard is aimed at children – though the skills learned through the course of the programme are just as valuable to people of all ages. The scheme begins with Stage 1 of the Bronze Award and progresses to Stage 3 of the Gold Award, starting off at an ability level suitable for brand-new swimmers and progressing to the level where our Rookie Lifeguards perform impressive lifesaving tows. Built into the programme are lessons in valuable survival, rescue and sports skill all delivered in an exciting way that will get children involved and motivated.
RLSS Water Smart Award has been designed as a standalone award from our other water safety programmes and provides a gateway for participants go on to complete further awards to develop skills and knowledge to keep themselves and others safe whilst enjoying the water. The training lasts around 4 hours and is split between classroom learning and in-water sessions.
The award’s focus is on five main areas, these include:
- Water Safety Awareness
- Getting In and Out of the Water Safely
- Safely Staying Afloat
- Safely Moving in the Water
- Performing Rescues Safely
